Keeping The Moon by Sarah Dessen

The book Keeping the moon is by Sarah Dessen.
The book is about a 15 year old Nicole "colie" sparks. Colie’s mom, Kiki sparks; aerobics instructor is taking her famous weight loss program to Europe. Colie leaves Charlotte (home town) to live in Colby, N.C. with her Aunt Mira. Colie just lost all of her extra weight but now has a reputation she didn’t earn. Going to Colby, Colie thinks she can forget about her past until Caroline Dawes (enemy) shows up and spreads rumors around about Colie. Colie takes up a waitressing job at the "last chance diner" where she meets fun-loving Morgan, Friendship-impaired Isabel, and "Hippie" artist Norman. Even in Colby there are people like Caroline Dawes and Colie Sparks. Colie learns more about herself from her Aunt Mira, Morgan, Isabel, and Norman. Colie learns to except herself for who she is and stand up for herself.
I liked the book because it’s different from all the rest of Sarah Dessen books. This book shows some of the real situation of teens and cruelty of teens. I like that Colie had friends that helped her in Colby and she shredded is low-self esteem and believed in herself.

  1. So what does she earn by losing weight, and why would she be ashamed of that rumor. Maybe i'm missing the point.

  3. This sounds like a great book to read if you were in Colie's situation, this book could help someone with their self-esteem and be able to come out of their shell.

  4. I haven't read any Sarah Dessen books before, so I'm glad to see a recommendation for where I should start. This sounds like a nice book on friendship.
